Henderson Beach State Park in Destin is one of the most breathtaking spots on the Florida Emerald Coast. Unlike the more bustling Florida public beaches, this 200-acre preserve offers a quieter, more laid-back environment. With over 6,000 feet of natural shoreline, the park features stunning vistas of the Gulf Coast, framed by towering 30-foot sand dunes and some of the last remaining coastal scrub on the Florida Panhandle. The park is also a haven for four endangered/protected plant species, as well as six species of shorebirds.

- Scenic Hike: The three-quarter-mile, pet-friendly trail was built by park staff and volunteers with support from Friends of Emerald Coast State Parks and a nearby Wal-Mart. It winds through ancient, shifting dunes and rare coastal scrub, leading to a scenic vista atop a high dune that formed around an old military bunker. There are also tours available upon request!
- Picnic and Playground Areas: There are six picnic pavilions, all equipped with barbecue grills, and near beach boardwalks. The playground overlooks the Gulf Coast and features a shaded seating area near the nature trail.
- Fishing Opportunities: Destin, Florida is often called the luckiest fishing village in the world, and guests can enjoy surf fishing at Henderson Beach State Park. Try your luck at catching species like catfish, pompano, flounder, whiting, redfish, and occasionally cobia. While fish cleaning stations are unavailable, bait and tackle can be bought nearby.
